DISEC stands for the Disarmament and International Security Committee, the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). It focuses on global security, arms control, and disarmament issues.

Key Functions of DISEC:
Disarmament & Arms Control – Discusses nuclear, chemical, and conventional weapons reduction.

International Security – Addresses threats like terrorism, cyber warfare, and military conflicts.

Treaty Negotiations – Reviews agreements like the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

Conflict Prevention – Promotes diplomatic solutions to prevent wars and arms races.

Structure:
All 193 UN Member States participate.

Works alongside other UN bodies like the Conference on Disarmament (CD) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Subcommittees and working groups focus on specific threats (e.g., biological weapons, drones).
